Catch 22

Can anyone help? I am ready to do my A1 award and can't get candidates to assess.

Nobody will let me assess without the award, but I can't do the award unless I am assessing.

How do people get around this?

Most people start off

Most people start off working for an NVQ assessment centre assessing as work based assessors or peripatetic assessors without an assessor qualification. They are then supported by their assessment centre to gain the assessor award.

Trying to access an A1 programme without being part of a assessment centre is risky.

Good news - I have found a

Good news - I have found a training company who will put me through my A1 award and let me assess their NVQ learners.

Now however as I don't have NVQ myself I have to gather evidence to show I am occupationally competent before I can go on the course. Any ideas? I have worked as an agency carer since 2001, but obviously as the care agency just booked me for shifts they have not witnessed me working.

(By the way I have a level 5 adult teaching qualification and have taught SoVA)
