ILF take over learning and development standards and qualifications

 Following the closure of Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) and its subsidiary company Standards Verification UK (SVUK) on 31 March 2011, certain responsibilities previously held by them will be transferred to the Institute for Learning (IfL), to ensure continuity of the work on standards and qualifications for the learning and skills sector.

Wolfe report on vocational education in schools published

From the Department of Education - The independent Wolf Review into vocational education, commissioned by Education Secretary Michael Gove, is published today.

"Professor Alison Wolf analyses how millions of children have been failed over the past twenty years and sets out a blueprint for a very different system in which almost all young people have the chance of further education or a good job" (Department of Education press notice).
