New NVQ assessor

Hi all,
I have just completed (and passed!) the TAQA assessor's course and I was wondering if there was anyone else in the same position? Job adverts seem to always ask for 'experienced' assessors! I am wanting freelance work in the Essex area in customer service or Health and Social care.

Hello. I tend to find that freelance assessor positions do ask for experienced assessors but companies don't as much. I think being freelance they need to be confident in you. However, that said, companies struggle to find qualified Health and Social Care Assessors. I was looking in Devon and Cornwall which are competitive areas and applied for jobs as an inexperienced assessor even when jobs said they wanted 'experience'. I got a huge response and I also posted my cv on places like cv library and jobsite and got calls just from that. In my experience, as soon as you hold the assessor qual, you become highly desirable.
