minimum qualifications required to deliver apprenticeships in england?

hi
can anyone shed any light on the topic of what is the legal requirement with regard to delivering the apprenticeship frameworks. i have been informed today that to deliver funded provision you have to have a full teaching qualification? i have always been informed that relevent assessing qualification d32/33 or a1 and PTLLS are the requirement as well as occupational competance. we are all so confused now and it will be a mamoth task to ensure all trainers/assessors are qualified to this level surely? i was told it had to be either DTLLS,PGCE,CertED.

any light that can be shed on this would be very helpful.

Looking at job adverts, others are only looking for assessor award and PTTLS. Have you looked at the awarding body qualification handbook?

yes all simply say assessor award and ptlls, but i have been told now by 2 sources that as the diploma has PLTS and the tech cert should be taught it is classed as teaching and DTLLS is the minimum. all awarding bodies state assessor award in the standards although as well as being told this new info it was also added that this was the case regardless of what your awarding body may say!
if this is a new thing thats me out of the job role as i do not wish to go to college for the next 2 yrs part time and i never wanted to become a teacher in the true sense of the word.

I think the destinction here is the difference between working as a work based assessor and working as a teacher within FE. Here is some useful information about working in Fe...

Much will depend on how a training provider or college organises its staff to deliver a programme. In the past there was always a difference in scales and title between assessors and teachers. With the apprenticeship this may change.

I assess 2 apprenticeship frameworks and went through a lengthy discussion about this very topic. As an assessor for vocational elements you are no longer required to hold either the A or V units, but as a minimum hold PTLLS. However it is best practice for assessors to also hold A or V units, now known as TAQA.

If you are delivering functional skills the yes you will require DTLLS or as a minimum have PTLLS and working towards DTLLS with a qualified tutor to support you.

Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, for individual qualifications you must check with your awarding body guidance on this - look at the handbook. Individual centres may also have their own policies.
