Dear All, Please help, i am an experienced Equine NVQ assessor but currently have a candidate who has already achieved her BHS Stage 1,2 and 3 and her PTT and UKCC Level 2 Coaching certificates.
She is currently working towards her NVQ Level 3 with the coaching units as her optional units 315, 322 and 323 .
I need to use APL for as much for her qulification as possible to prevent her re doing work she has already been examined on and achieved.
Can anyone help me with a suitable way of demonstrating all this Prior knowledge and making it valid and sufficient for the IV and EV.
I look forward to any comments and suggestions you may have.

S. P
Personally, my first
Personally, my first step would look for centre agreement on the process. Last thing you want to do is decide on a method which is not accepted by your local provider. This may also need to be checked with your external verifier.Your centre and awarding body will have Recognistion of Prior Learning policies, which may provide some guidance.
My own practice with RPL from other qualifications into a new one is to write a report that explains my approach, bullet points the key areas of completence being considered and then references this against the new qualification. This can then be considered by the Internal Verifier (IQA).
What do others think?

Hi Tom, Many thanks for your
Hi Tom,
Many thanks for your suggestions.
The centre has offered limited help. Iv has been great but still not really found the ideal solution.
The main problem is that the British horse society qualifications do not examine the whole syllabus.
I do not know if you are aware of how these exams work but basically you have a syllabus and when you feel competent eough enter for a bhs exam. During the exam you do practical tasks and then have an oral questioning session. Our ev argues that candidates who have done this exam have not been assessed on every part of the syllabus. And there is no record of exactly what has and has not been assessed therefore when trying to cross reference for rpl purposes you cannot say for certain exactly what was covered in the bhs exam.
I'm really struggling with this if anyone is an equine assessor and can help I would be so greatful.
